AUGUSTA, GA - Authorities have announced that 18-year-old Michael Everidge received a sentence of 17 years in prison for his guilty plea to voluntary manslaughter in an incident at the Augusta Youth Development Campus.
Everidge and another inmate, 19-year-old Jade Holder, agreed to enter a fight for bumping into one another in the hallway.
According to witnesses, Holder appeared to be winning the fight and threw his hands in the air to signal a defeat and the end of the fight. However, Everidge was able to slam his body down on the concrete floor and began to kick and punch him relentlessly.
Holder later died due to head trauma according to an autopsy report.
